Being members of the MSME Council and, at the same time, the only branding agency within the space, we were entrusted with the task of rebranding the Young Entrepreneurs Council into the MSME Council Fiji, a new era of entrepreneurship designed for all ages and stages of business.
The challenge with this logo was that it was not only a publicly viewed brand, but also one that needed to represent four important sectors within the council: Micro, Small, Medium, and Enterprise.
Each category carried its own identity, personality, struggles, and journey. Creating a single brand identity that could capture and unify these different levels within the council became one of the biggest creative challenges of the project.
Through extensive discovery sessions, research phases, and ongoing back-and-forth discussions, Creative Director William Lomaloma entered a long creative process to fully understand what the MSME Council truly represented.
Weeks turned into months, and months eventually turned into nearly a year.
Understanding the meaning behind MSME and what each stage represented to the people living within those spaces became the foundation of the design journey.
This process involved:
reading articles and studies,
watching documentaries and interviews,
attending conferences, workshops, and business meetings,
sitting in parks and public spaces observing human interaction,
studying how businesses, market vendors, customers, and everyday people communicated and connected with one another.
Every observation became part of the research.
The goal was never to create decoration, but to create a symbol people within the MSME space could emotionally recognise as their own.
Over time, these experiences helped shape the final identity system — a mark designed not only to visually represent the council, but also to resonate with the people and businesses that make up the MSME space in Fiji.
The final logo and identity were officially unveiled in Namosi, during the MSME Council launch attended by MSMEs, entrepreneurs, business owners, and members of the public from various sectors around Fiji.
The unveiling was carried out by the former Deputy Prime Minister of Fiji alongside the Chief of Namosi, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the council and the entrepreneurial space it represents.
What began as a logo design project eventually became a symbol of growth, identity, and representation for the MSME community across Fiji.
